Personality:
A poser pirate if there ever was one, Cord prefers trading puns to trading blows with a sword. He attempts to appear tough around the other crew members, but more often than not accidentally falls into his usual jokester personality. A show-off to the nth degree with a touch of OCD that often causes him to keep everything on the ship spotless and organized just so, Cord isn't what one would immediately think of when they hear the word "pirate."
His Story:
A father in the navy (and a grandfather, and a great grand father, and pretty much every male in his family—including his two brothers). His mother died several years back while he was at sea.
The expectation for Cord's life was that he would follow in the proud line of his family and be in the navy. While he loved being out on the sea, he hated the rigidity of his commanding officers. They reprimanded him for every joking remark, and he felt stifled every day. But he continued on, hoping something would change. And it finally did. He was dishonorably discharged, his commanding officers fed up with his constant barrage of harmless jokes. He was told he needed to take life more seriously. He was told he was a failure. They never guessed the failure would find a new way to live life out on the sea. His father almost had a heart attack when he learned his son had accepted passage on a pirate ship by the name of The Elysium. His son, a pirate? No one who knew Cord could have anticipated the rash decision. But then again, Cord had a bad habit of impulsive decisions. But this one? He managed to make it stick for a few years. Here's hoping it last.
