Art/design by me (FalconX) — Naora is a main character in my novel "Albatross"
About:
Name: Naora (meaning "viper")
Species: Hakari (siren) Gender: Female Mate: None |
Mother: Mara
Father: Captain Finn Siblings: James Davis (human) Offspring: None |
Her Story:
That monsters exist in Shindwa, it is no secret. But of the many races that exist in wide knowledge, the hakari is not one. They lurk in the depths of the ocean, and if they surface, those who see them wind up dead. The hakari are what the surface dwellers refer to as "sirens." Once a part of the merfolk society, they were cast out, deemed unholy for being a product of a union between a merfolk and another race.
Naora is one such castaway, brought to the society of the hakari as one of the nameless. In hakari society, a name is earned only after completion of training. So for years, Naora served an empty life, running missions, killing for the sake of earning her name and her worth.
In an ironic twist, it is the merfolk society that is the primary employer of the hakarian assassins. And it is their king, Tasan, who ordered Naora to kill the pirate lord, Captain Finn. As the third rank of the hakari society after years of becoming a hardened, ruthless killer, Naora finds no qualm with her assignment. She has only to discover where his ship is docked.
*note: merfolk are born with almost translucent skin. Naora's skin is a darkened grey/purple tone due to the dyes she uses so that she might be camoflouged in the dark waters of the Shinwa oceans when she is sent on assignment to the surface. The string of pearls around her body are ceremonial, representing the number of successful missions she has run. Pearls were chosen because of the myth that a mermaid's tears harden and become pearls.
